What is a PICC Line?

A Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) is a long-term IV catheter inserted through a peripheral vein in the arm and advanced to the superior vena cava/cavoatrial junction (SVC/CVA).

Benefits of using a PICC Line for patients

  • A PICC line can remain indwelling for up to a year, whereas regular IVs must be changed frequently (usually every two to three days).

  • PICC Lines have the lowest rate of infection out of all central lines making them the best choice for home care.

  • PICC Lines accomodate all IV drugs, thereby avoiding problems associated with traditional IV access.

  • PICC Lines can be used for blood draws.

Why Use Us?

PICC RNs Plus, Inc. will match an idependent certified vascular access nurse with your facility within 24 hours of a doctor’s order being written. PICC Line insertion is performed at the patient’s bedside by a Certified Registered Nurse.

Ultrasound-guided PICC lines offer an excellent solution for patients with veins that are small and difficult to locate. Veins can be accessed above the antecubital space and out of the way of everyday procedures. Utilizing Ultrasound technology requires only a single stick for the entire hospital stay and increases patient comfort.
